About the Ride
Please find below all event information including route information, timing and groups and training rides.
Starting at Port Melbourne Yacht Club the 180.2km Blairgowrie return ride takes in the best of the Mornington Peninsula on the way to Sorrento, before returning to St Kilda, via Rosebud, Mornington, Frankston and Mordialloc.
The route is relatively flat with just over 800m of climbing. The steepest parts of the ride are at Oliver’s Hill (600m of climbing at 6%), Balcombe Hill (roughly 2.4km of climbing at 4.4%), then just a gradual climb with some rollers thrown in for 6km as you come out of Mornington and head towards Frankston.
Timings and Groups
The Mercedes-Benz Waverley Cycling Challenge is a chaperoned ride, when you enter you will be prompted to select your average speed based on this chart.
These groupings may be changed dependant on actual entries/number of riders electing to join each group. Please ensure you do not just show up for the time you think you will be leaving. All riders should arrive at 5.45am for the official briefing.

Weekly Training Rides
This year, Total Rush would like to invite all Mercedes-Benz Waverley Cycling Challenge riders along to their weekly Shop Ride to ensure you’re ready to tackle the challenge.
Departing the Total Rush Richmond store at 7am every Saturday, the ride heads to Mordialloc and back. The ride down is a steady pace where everyone rides as one group, on the way back there are 2-3 speed options ranging from gentle to “full gas”.
After the ride everyone gathers for a coffee and a chat at the Rush Cafe, where Total Rush would like to extend the offer for all Mercedes-Benz Waverley Cycling Challenge riders to enjoy a free coffee upon mentioning that you’re a part of the Mercedes-Benz Waverley Cycling Challenge team.
Group Training Ride
Total Rush will conduct a Training Ride with all 2019 Mercedes-Benz Waverley Cycling Challenge registered riders 1 month before the ride takes place.
